World Volume Noncommutativity versus Target Space Noncommutativity

چکیده
It is known that the noncommutativity of D-brane coordinate is responsible for describing the higher-dimensional D-branes in terms of more fundamental ones such as D-particles or D-instantons, while considering a noncommutative torus as a target space is conjectured to be equivalent to introducing the background antisymmetric tensor field in matrix models. In the present paper we clarify the dual nature of both descriptions. Namely the noncommutativity of conjugate momenta of the D-brane coordinates realizes the target space structure, whereas noncommutativity of the coordinates themselves realizes world volume structure. We explicitly construct a boundary state for the Dirichlet boundary condition where the string boundary is adhered to the D-brane on the noncommutative torus. There are non-trivial relations between the parameters appeared in the algebra of the coordinates and that of the momenta. ∗ e-mail address: [email protected] † e-mail address: [email protected]

NCOS and D-branes in Time-dependent Backgrounds
We study noncommutative open string (NCOS) theories realized in string theory with time-dependent backgrounds. Starting from a noncommutative YangMills theory (NCYM) with a constant space-space noncommutativity but in a time-dependent background and making an S-dual transformation, we show that the resulting theory is an NCOS also in a time-dependent background but now with a time-dependent tim...
متن کاملOn β–deformations and Noncommutativity
We elucidate the connection between the N = 1 β–deformed SYM theory and noncommutativity. Our starting point is the T–duality generating transformation involved in constructing the gravity duals of both β–deformed and noncommutative gauge theories. We show that the two methods can be identified provided that a particular submatrix of the O(3, 3,R) group element employed in the former case, is i...
متن کاملSearching for effects of Spatial Noncommutativity via a Penning Trap
The possibility of testing spatial noncommutativity via a Penning trap is explored. The case of both space-space and momentum-momentum noncommuting is considered. Spatial noncommutativity leads to the spectrum of the orbital angular momentum of a Penning trap possessing fractional values, and in the limits of vanishing kinetic energy and subsequent vanishing magnetic field, this system has non-...
متن کاملGeneralized Space-time Noncommutative Inflation
We study the noncommutative inflation with a time-dependent noncommutativity between space and time. From the numerical analysis of power law inflation, there are clues that the CMB spectrum indicates a nonconstant noncommutative inflation. Then we extend our treatment to the inflation models with more general noncommutativity and find that the scalar perturbation power spectrum depends sensiti...
متن کاملCoordinate Noncommutativity in Strong Non-Uniform Magnetic Fields
Noncommutativity of space coordinates has been much studied from various points of view [1-3]. It arises naturally in string theory, where it is related to the presence of strong backgrounds fields. If these are constant, one obtains the more familiar case where the coordinate noncommutativity [x, x ] is a constant antisymmetric quantity. However, if the background fields depend on the spatial ...
